SUSTAINABILITY

Searches for sustainable wedding options are continually on the rise. Be it locally grown flowers, pre-loved wedding attire or cutting back on unnecessary flower and décor waste. Couples are more than ever aware of their footprint and are plumbing for more low-waste options. Digital invitations and virtual celebrations have become more popular and the couples are seeing the impact they can have. Being conscious about food waste and trying to reduce single-use plastics are also great ways to make your wedding more sustainable.

ELOPEMENTS & MICRO WEDDINGS

Micro weddings, defined as intimate gatherings with a guest list of up to 30 guests (some sources say 50), are on the rise! There are many plus-sides to this trend, from the overall vibe of the event – more personal and emotional – to the possibility of spending quality time with each and every guest. More and more couples decide on having a micro wedding due to budget constraints, wanting to scale back to just their nearest and dearest or even having a two-part wedding. Whatever the reason is, we see this trend continuing on being popular for years to come.

Elopements, which saw a huge rise in 2020, are here to stay in 2021! Couples are embracing the intimate nuptials that are adventurous, inspiring, and personal. The focus is just on them and their love and we believe there is nothing more pure (or trendy!) than that.

EXTENDED CELEBRATIONS & TWO PART WEDDINGS

With the rise of the micro wedding, another trend has come along – extended celebrations. After the events of the past year (postponements) and with smaller guest lists – couples want to spoil their guests in throwing a two-day party or a longer celebration. We say why not have a wedding weekend instead of a wedding day!?

On the other hand, the couples that had their ceremony in 2020. are throwing their wedding bashes this year with an extended guest list. These will be larger-scale events focused on celebrating their love with friends and family who could not attend the wedding in 2020.

Practical also for safety reasons, these mini masterpieces can make each guest feel special. They can be served at a seated dinner or packed to be taken home after the party. MISMATCHED SEATING

In the past, it was all about coordinating and matching the elements of the wedding. These days, mismatching is the big trend. It started with mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses and is now continuing on to mixing and matching table sizes and shapes – square, rectangular, circular – and ceremony chairs. Besides adding an interesting touch to the ceremony and reception setup, these new setups appear to photograph magnificently.

WEEKDAY WEDDINGS

Due to the many postponements from 2020, the majority of venues and vendors have slim availability for 2021. Opting to have a weekday wedding can allow a couple to have their dream wedding with their preferred vendors in 2021. Also important to mention is that there are often cost benefits associated with a weekday wedding. This is also a great opportunity to support the wedding industry, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.

PANTONE COLOURS OF THE YEAR

In 2021. bold colour palettes and warmer tones are going to replace the traditional blush and ivory wedding palette. Fresh pops of colour, print mixing, colour-clashing and statement hues are all going to see the light of day in 2021. weddings. For this year Pantone have chosen not one, but two shades as their ‘Colour of the Year’. They are called Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. Only bold couples will use these colours in their wedding, but the ones that do, they will not regret it. They complement each other beautifully and make for stunning wedding photos.

What do you think of the 2021. wedding trends? Would you implement one or even all of these into your wedding day? Whatever the answer may be, we hope you are excited for the upcoming wedding season as much as we are!
