TREASURE IN THE RUINS STYLED SHOOT

In uncertain times such as these, a small team of Croatian wedding vendors came together with a common goal – to celebrate love and its incomparable power. They came up with an idea that closely illustrates the unfortunate situation in which the entire wedding industry, and the whole world, found itself following a pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus. And so the “Treasure in the ruins” styled shoot was born.

This pandemic has changed the whole world. In just a couple of months, we are witnessing a completely new way of social behaviour. Couples who were supposed to be celebrating their love are forced to postpone or even cancel their wedding day.

Fortunately, we are all sure of one thing – love cannot be postponed or cancelled; and it certainly cannot be banned. This is the main message of the whole project with the official hashtag #cantforbidlove.

Guided by this, the Artium Weddings team began planning this styled shoot project. The choice of location was symbolic – Dvigrad fortress – ruins of a medieval fortified settlement in central Istria. This medieval city survived plague pandemics as well as wars, but they failed to conquer it. Dvigrad, like most medieval towns, has its own legends. One of them says: “If a couple passes under one of the arches in Dvigrad while holding hands, they will stay together forever.”

Artium Weddings brought together a great team of collaborators and revived the ceremony and celebration of love in these abandoned ruins. The entire design and script of the project bears their signature. The decor and floral design, an indispensable part of the styled shoot, is the work of their hardworking team members.

As the location for the ceremony, they chose the remains of the Basilica of St. Sophia. The two church vaults that still support each other symbolize the indestructible power of love. They reflect two newlyweds – who keep the marriage together. Each comes from their own direction, but they meet in the same place.

The colour palette was in the service of the magnificent wedding dress of the amazing designer Marina Jerant under her brand Lukabu Official. Nika Širola had the honour of wearing Marina’s creation and shining with the help of the masterful hands of make-up artist Nataša Pamić, while Lara Aničić from the Studio Lara hair salon took care of her beautiful bridal hairstyle. Fidelio Tailor dressed the groom Ivan Gend in one of their traditional but trendy suits and a pair of unavoidable black patent leather shoes.

The wonderful scenes of this styled shoot were captured by talented photographers – Alex from IndigoBlu Weddings and Nina from Nina Roland Weddings; and a lovely couple of videographers – Tin and Josipa from Nomad Diaries.
