VENUE OF THE WEEK: CASTLE GOSPODNETIĆ

“Wes Anderson movie vibes in a 16th century castle wedding venue.”

We believe aesthetics are really important when searching for your ideal wedding venue. For those movie buffs out there and especially those with a fondness to Wes Anderson movies, this one’s for you! This pink castle venue can be found on one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia – Brač.

Beside the movie magic, this place lives and breathes history. Owned by the same family for many centuries, who aim to keep the traditions alive, there is no better place for a fairy-tale-movie-magic wedding! Our Venue of the Week is Castle Gospodnetić.

Unique weddings with an incredible backstory

If you are looking for a small, intimate and rustic wedding venue, look no further than this castle built in the 16th century. Castle Gospodnetić was built on the hill in the village of Dol, during  the Turkish-Venetian war. In that time, Turks were really close to Brač island, so it was used primarily to defend against possible Turkish attacks. The castle was rebuilt several times, but it was painted in this characteristic colour in the late 19th century. The complete interior of the 19th century has been preserved in the castle, so you can experience a real vintage atmosphere during your wedding photo shooting. This venue has a really romantic and intimate ambience with a stunning view over the village of Dol.

Throughout the year the Gospodnetić family grows grapevines, olives and vegetables, and in the summer they open their door to you!  Currently, the twelfth generation of the family lives in this noble house, the Venetian castle, a cultural heritage, a unique example of Art Nouveau interiors, or, as they like to call it, home. They will walk you through their salon, give you a unique opportunity to see how people lived in a noble house in the late 19th century in Dalmatia and in the end, host your magical wedding day in their courtyard. The homemade dishes from their renaissance tavern perfectly complement the views from their baroque terrace overlooking the valley, the sea and the mountains. Feel the tranquillity and the authentic atmosphere of the island while enjoying your wedding day in Castle Gospodnetić.
